ABOUT US
The year 2003 marked the bifurcation of the Kothamangalam Diocese and the erection of the new Diocese of Idukki. The formation of the new Eparchy paved the way for the bifurcation of Pavanathma Province, Kothamangalam. During the Provincial Synaxis of the year 2003, the synaxis members unanimously expressed their strong desire for the partition of the province. The provincial council submitted the application to the General Council and who gave the option to the members of the Pavanathma Province. It was found encouraging that a good number of sisters opted for the Highranges with all its difficult and inconvenient situations. The new Province was officially declared on 14th September 2003 at Provincial House, Kozhippilly by Mother Fidelis, the then Superior General, after the solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist by His Excellency Mar.George Punnakottil, the Bishop of Kothamangalam.
At present Carmelgiri Province have 24 houses in Kerala and one in Germany, one in Peru. Stella Maris Convent Adimaly has been functioning as the Provincial House as well as a prayer house.
The harvest is rich, but the labourers, few. Formation of the new province was an urgent need in this scenario – for a fruitful and more effective mission.
The Diocese of Idukki, which spans the entire Idukki District, is certainly a boundless and vast field. We gather the harvest here under the spiritual guidance and paternal care of our Bishop His Excellency Mar. John Nellikkunnel. We consider Evangelization through Faith Formation as our prior concern
We render our service to build up the Kingdom of God through schools (Eng, Mal &Tamil Medium), special schools for the differently abled children, Self financing college, Charitable Society & counseling centres, Short Stay Home for Women in Distress, boarding, village work (Including tribals) , pastoral care, etc..
"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. ...
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
Understanding the need of the hour, sisters dedicate themselves in guiding and supporting children, youth as well as grown – ups. Awareness programmes are organized with this goal. Home mission provides ample opportunity to empower, enrich and to take care of God’s children. Above all we are all trying to grow unto the likeness of Jesus. We hope our Lady of Mount Carmel may guide us in all our humble attempts.

Our founder father St. Kuriakose Elias , St. Euphrasia, Mother Mary Celine the holy star of CMC stand as models inviting us to seek and fulfil His holy will in perfect charity and fidelity. Prophet Elijah is our Patron. The members of the province try to imbibe the zeal of Elijah and thereby grow unto the fullness of Christ. The powerful intercession of all the saints of Carmel, especially of our Beloved Mother – the Queen Beauty of Carmel – support us in fulfilling our call to holiness. We gratefully raise our hearts to God Almighty for His abundant blessings upon us throughout these days.
